Ugh I'm horrible with replying to your comments, I appologize, I post and then don't look at my own blog again for days.

Anyway, yeah I agree about chat bubbles, There was good in that it kinda limited it a bit, but if you ever went to a party in There with huge crowds, the chat bubbles sucked (literly for a while). I like flow, but one thing I hate about having it show text as you type is then you can make mistakes all the time and can't really go back and fix them cause everyones seen it already. :P

1) Saves keystrokes, especially the PITA that comes with repeatedly copying-and-pasting. (Thank goodness the "Insert key bug" finally gets fixed in Preview 1.11.)

2) Too many benefits to outweigh the fears. I need this because of all the times I end up crashing or having to relog mid-project and it's like the slate has been wiped blank. Ugh.

3) This also ties into better inworld communication. It's a pain having to mentally calculate, "Am I 20 m away now or what?" when you want to ensure someone else isn't listening. And oh, IM isn't ideal because it's clunky for the flow that IRC channels do so well: people coming and going on-the-fly.

4) Yes please. :D HAHAHA IM SO BIAS

5) This is the opposite of a Mute list in someway. It adds emphasis!

6) This sounds really good. I can't believe there isn't more interactivity in the Chat History, now that you mention it.

7) I find chat bubbles to be useless in large crowds. They had a novelty appeal for me but on a day-to-day basis, I can't use 'em. I like There's more because it shows someone typing letter by letter. Again, appeals to my love of "flow".

I didn't report that yet, but I will! Wasn't sure if it was intentional or what.

I dunno what would be a better metaphor, what does Mac OS X use instead? Whatever we call it, we need it. :P And yeah gre/aying out would be better than making them dissapear.

And thanks, I don't use the forums much at all anymore, too much eck kinda stuff. I like to be able to just point to my ideas too, makes things easier. :)

6) sounds like a bug with the teleport rules. It does not make sense, because as owner, your teleports should override landing point conditions. Did you send a bug report on this one already?

As for 5), I remember reading a UI discussion about how "Cut" is a poor metaphor, and why Mac OS X doesn't use it. I'd imagine if this were to work in SL, it'd gray out an item (or items) upon "cutting" them, as opposed to making them disappear until pasted (which would be confusing).

I think there's going to be a bigger overhaul of the postcard+snapshot thing. I'm looking forward to that, being an avid picture-taker and all.

Encouraging as usual to see your ideas, Oz. Committing them to a blog helps keep them visible because I've been having a hard time mining the forums, search problems, slowdowns, and all.

Yes this is pretty much the total compilation of the ideas we talked about before. I was thinking about that as well (that contents can't be seen till its rezzed), that would be a problem, honestly though it should be changed if that is the case! :P

It took me an hour and some minutes I think. I thought about what stuff should look like awhile before actualy making them. And I agree the text looks scrunched, but I was trying to see if it would be possible to fit them on the current icons... it appears not so much. Perhaps just somehow otherwise highlighting the object icon? I dunno. The idea really is though that there should be some identifiable change to notice that its a new item.

Thats a good question... you know it'd be neat if you had like, in your main Inventory you have how we currently have it, items divided into folders (with my additions ;) ), but then ALSO have an "Inbox" window that you could see from the Inventory, like File -> Inbox Window, which only showed new items and maybe what folders they are in. Thats a good idea too though, I was kinda thinking about that, but my idea was to have it pop up when you login... but I wasn't sure about it.

Yeah thats what this idea is to fix, the issue of "Wait, where'd that go?". Bolding could work too, but we have bolding for worn items and stuff.

Formatting... lets see... Bold? bold?, first one uses brackets [ b ] second one uses < b >, lets see when I press Say It! which one turns out right.

Haha, that sperm is the one Soleil made :D No-copy is kinda ironic isn't it?

The colors could be whatever. My reason for chosing system-color-green is because people are familiar with it referring to system stuff, however something more eye-catching or more contrasty could be better, something to give permissions their own color. New could be green as well, New item text too, I do think that the color should be more contrasty, the yellow I used is actualy too light and not enough of a difference from the white.

I think it'd be neat if you could choose your own colors as you can with some of the Chat text. :)
